Laura Behm was born and raised in the 816. She began dancing at the age of 2, and has furthered her education at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, graduating in May 2022 with both a BFA from the Conservatory in Dance Performance and Choreography, as well as a BS in Mathematics and Statistics with a minor in Actuarial Science. During her time in school she has had the privilege to train under DeeAnna Hiett, Gary Abbott, Tobin James, Ronn Tice, Paula Weber, Caroline Dahm, Kristopher Estes-Brown, Christina Burton, and Karen Brown. She also has performed works by Ray Mercer and George Balanchine (set by Nilas Martins). Alongside classical work, Laura has also professionally choreographed many musicals at local schools and studios, performed in local theaters including Summit Theatre Group and Johnson County's The Theater in the Park, and danced professionally for shows at Worlds of Fun under the direction of Brian Cross and Phil Vitug. Laura is honored to make her debut with Kansas City Contemporary Dance Company this season.
