Welcome to our first blog post!
The past two months have been full and exciting for KC Contemporary (KCCD) as we prepare for a season full of dance and performances. April 6th not only marks the opening of our First Friday Dance Series, but also new works and performance spaces for the company. We are premiering multiple new works by Artistic Director Leigh Murray and Rehearsal Director Katie Metzger at Dance Fit Flow for this First Friday and couldn’t be more thrilled with how things are turning out. The following day, a duet and solo selected from our fall performance, “Shifting Tides”, will be performed at the National Dance Week in Overland Park. And to top of the weekend, KCCD returns to the Annual “Open Stage” performance showcasing dance companies and choreographers from the KC metro area. Getting to perform alongside companies from around the area and to expand our presence in this community is one of the best parts about our job. And that is only the beginning for us this season!
Every day in rehearsal, we are expanding our movement and realm of creativity. In the next few weeks, I will be introducing you to the company members that make all of this possible. Each of us has something to share, so please look for the next few posts about who we are and how we all came together!
Check out the attached video clips to see what we have been working on in rehearsals!
